  • Born at Cohanzick Zoo in 1989

  • His dad Petey was very loved by the guests and lived to be 47 (average lifespan is about 40)

  • Koko has a confident manner and is intelligent

  • He loves camp season; he will play with the kids in his window, swinging back and forth and high-fiving them against the glass

  • His favorite toy is his Mario ball

  • Favorite foods include mangoes and cooked sweet potatoes

  • He enjoys the enrichment items that his keeper gives him daily

  • Koko does not enjoy messy food or messy enrichment; he likes to stay very clean  

  • Gibbons can catch birds midair and eat them; Koko does this often, his favorites are cardinals

  • Their main movement style is brachiation (or arm-swinging), but they can also run and walk upright on the ground

  • They love to stay high up in the canopy

  • Gibbons are one of the fastest primates; they can "fly" up to 40 feet through the air

  • They sleep sitting up, with their face resting on their bent knees

  • Gibbons sing duets with their partner, this is how they claim and maintain their territory

  • Live in the forests of Southeast Asia; they are endangered due to hunting, illegal pet trade, and deforestation

  • They eat fruit, leaves, insects, flowers, eggs (and birds)
